Support

SessionSync is designed to be straightforward. If you need help, start with the FAQ below. If your question isn't covered, email us at support@sessionsync.app and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

Getting Started

How do I get filenames from my proofing gallery?

Most proofing platforms let your clients select favourites, which you can export or copy as a list of filenames. In Pixieset, use the favourites list. In picdrop, use the selection export. In ShootProof, use the selection labels. Copy the list to your clipboard and paste it into SessionSync.

What formats does SessionSync accept?

Almost anything. One filename per line, comma-separated, numbered lists (1. DSC_0001), bulleted lists, or a messy mix. SessionSync cleans up the formatting automatically. File extensions are stripped too, so "DSC_0001.CR2" and "DSC_0001" both work.

Which RAW formats are supported?

CR2, CR3 (Canon), NEF (Nikon), ARW (Sony), RAF (Fuji), DNG, ORF (Olympus), PEF (Pentax), RW2 (Panasonic), SRW (Samsung), and 20+ more. Plus JPEG, TIFF, HEIC, PSD, and all common image formats.

Search & Results

Why weren't some files found?

Common reasons: the files are on an external drive that isn't connected, the files are in a different folder than the one you selected, or the filenames in the list don't match the actual file names (check for typos or truncated names). SessionSync searches the folder you selected and all subfolders within it.

How does the search work?

SessionSync first uses Apple's Spotlight index for speed. If any files aren't found via Spotlight (common with cloud-synced folders or unindexed drives), it falls back to a thorough directory scan. This two-method approach ensures files are found even when Spotlight indexing is incomplete.

Can I search across multiple folders?

You can save up to 5 library folders and switch between them. Each search runs against the currently active folder and all its subfolders.

Cloud Storage

What does "Make Available Offline" do?

If your library folder is in Dropbox, iCloud Drive, or OneDrive, some files may be stored in the cloud only (not downloaded to your Mac). The "Make Available Offline" button tells the cloud provider to download those files locally so your editing app can open them.

Which cloud services are supported?

Dropbox, iCloud Drive, and OneDrive. SessionSync detects the provider automatically based on your folder location.

Editing Apps

My editing app isn't listed. Can I still use SessionSync?

Yes. Choose "Finder" as your output app. SessionSync will reveal the found files in Finder, and you can open them in any app from there.

Can I change my default editing app?

Yes. Use the app picker in the toolbar, or go to SessionSync > Settings. You can also choose a different app for a specific search using the dropdown arrow on the Open button.
